People have reported missing pieces or extra pieces, and others have noticed that the pieces don’t always fit together perfectly. So what’s going on?
Measuring 1000-Piece Jigsaw Puzzles
Whether it’s 1000-piece jigsaw puzzles or 500-piece puzzles, manufacturers are not trying to deceive you. It’s really about understanding how the number of puzzle pieces is measured. Most manufacturers count the number of fully interlocking pieces in the puzzle. This may exclude any partially linking pieces that may be included in the box.
Partially interlocking pieces are those that only have one or two tabs or knobs. Fully interlocking pieces have three or more. This means that the number of pieces listed on the box may not be an accurate representation of the actual number of fully interlocking pieces in the puzzle.
